The cabin is located just 4 miles from the James River, which is noted for excellent smallmouth bass fishing, canoeing, and kayaking.  It is also near the Balcony Falls area of the James, a float fishing paradise.  Within 10 miles are three river access points for boats, canoes and kayaks.  For the trout fisherman there are numerous native and stocked streams within easy driving distance.
